How we recognise our athletes
At Plympton Flyers, we recognise our athletes' efforts in many ways. All registered athletes are eligible for one or more of the awards below — celebrating attendance, improvement, personal bests, and outstanding performance throughout the season.
For every athlete
Three awards presented at the end of every season, recognising effort and improvement at every level.
All Tiny Tots and U6 athletes receive an award at the end of the season, recognising their dedication and effort throughout the year and encouraging them to return next season.
Tiny Tots & U6Medals are awarded to athletes for beating their own personal bests through the season. These awards recognise effort and self-improvement — they don't compare one athlete's performance with another's.
U7–U17A Most Improved Trophy is awarded to the boy and girl in each age group with the highest point score for the season. See below for how points are calculated.
U6–U17Most Improved scoring system
Points are awarded based on attendance and performance. Come to as many competition days as you can — every meet counts.
- Be fully registered and financial
- Wear the club uniform
- Participate in at least 50% of weekly meetings since registration
In the event of a tie, the athlete with the higher percentage of meet attendance is declared the winner.
Improver of the Year
Three Improver titles are awarded each season — one for each age band — using the same Most Improved scoring system above.
Highest point score across the U6–U8 age groups.
U6–U8Highest point score across the U9–U12 age groups.
U9–U12Highest point score across the U13–U17 age groups.
U13–U17Athlete of the Year
Awarded to the athlete who accumulates the most points at championship events through the summer season.
Championship events include the State Relay, Combined-Event and State Individual Championships.

- The athlete must be a registered member of Plympton Flyers in the current season
- The record must be achieved at a programmed State or club meet
